Product Description
Fiskars Chain-Drive Extendable Tree Pruner and Pole Saw makes it easy to cut high or low with a level of control that traditional pruners can't match. A long, lightweight pole lets you cut high branches without the hassles and dangers of using a ladder, make low cuts without sore knees from kneeling or back strain from bending, and easily reach into dense, prickly shrubs or tight spots. For the reach you need to cut your highest branches, the pole extends up to 16 feet and locks securely with our double locking system. The easy-to-grip sliding handle makes the pruning action smooth and simple. The included 15-inch saw blade with a hooked end makes it easy to remove thicker branches, the fully hardened, precision-ground blade stays sharp, and a low-friction, rust-resistant coating makes every cut smoother.
Designed to help you transform the backyard, Fiskars lawn and gardening tools are equipped with smart technologies and award-winning, ergonomic features that make it easier and more enjoyable to perform your own lawn care. From pruning shears, lawn mowers, weeding tools, and tree cutters, we take a holistic approach to develop garden equipment that reflects hours of immersive study, research, and validation, resulting in gardening supplies that outperform the competition and feel like a natural extension of your body.

The saw works well. It has been outside in the rain for several days and is still bright and shiny stainless. I've cut up to 6" limbs with it overhead, but that size limb takes about 20 minutes to cut. Smaller limbs cut through in a few minutes with the super sharp saw.
The adjusting mechanism is very easy to use. There is a collar that locks the pole to length. Once the collar is released, you can press a button to slide the extension in or out. There are 3 extension holes that make it about 10', 12', and 15' at its longest. Release the button and slide the extension until it clicks. Then close the collar and start cutting. It is more difficult to stabilize at the longer settings. The pruning rope extends about 2' longer than the pole at it greatest length. It's better to only prune 1" or smaller branches when it is fully extended, because the force needed for larger branches cause a bow in the device while pulling the cord.
There were some issues with the pruning head cord coming off the rollers from branch contact. It was easy to correct by hand. I left the saw attached (held on by a single wingnut), but I think there would be less cord issues without the saw.
I'm very pleased with this pole saw and I'm so happy that I didn't get the multi-piece long saws after seeing how they come apart. I highly recommend this pole saw/pruner from Fiskars.
UPDATE: Still 5 stars! I've used this pole saw a lot. The pruning cord can get tangled at shorter lengths, but is easy to manage by hold the cord on the handle during use. I love this pole saw and it has done everything I needed with high branches!
After looking at a lot of reviews and specs - this Fiskars model hits the right mix of features (length and cutting capability) for a good price. The model I purchased extends from 7' - 16' and has the "chain drive".
Overall the tool seems sturdy - time will tell. The fiberglass pole is striking a nice balance between weight and strength and reach. The tool head with lopper worked fine to nip thru 3 branches that were just a bit over 1" in diameter (thickness). I have not yet tested the saw - other than to remove the blade while using the lopper.
When fixing the saw for use - you undo a single wingnut and align a support hole with a nub on the tool head and the hole for the bolt for the wing nut to (re)secure the saw. It would be nice if they'd include a second nub so you could secure the blade to the tool while it's not in use and not worry that it could slide out of position.
Overall I'm happy with the price/performance - it made easy work of the test branches on the willow over the patio - requiring not too much strength to pull the rope for the lopper. It's a bit unwieldy but extended to 12 or 16 feet that's to be expected. Time will tell about the durability - but I have a weekend coming up soon to do some trimming on a number of trees around my property.
