About this item

  • SPECIFICATIONS: This damaged bolt and stud extractor tool is 3/8-inch drive and can be used with manual or pneumatic impact wrenches and ratchets, quickly and easily removing damaged bolts and extractors more efficiently than standard bolt extractors. This bolt extractor fits 1/4 - 1/2-inch (6 - 12mm) studs.
  • DESIGN: Manufactured with high-grade heat-treated alloy steel for maximum durability, this tool also features a chrome finish for additional rust and corrosion protection, with a knurled grip for extra stability. The universal design of this bolt extractor clamps down on the damaged stud for stable and secure removal, and the hexagonal flat can also be used with flat wrenches, adjustable wrenches, sockets, and locking pliers.
  • APPLICATION: Traditional bolt extractors force the user to guess the size of damaged studs, stripping damaged screws and shaving metal off without budging the fastener. This extractor eliminates guesswork by adjusting and clamping to the bolt, saving hours of frustration on broken exhaust manifolds, oil filler plugs, rounded starter bolts, low grade bolts left in saltwater, painted-over bolts, rusted tight bolts, and more.
  • RELIABLE | EFFECTIVE | EFFICIENT: Users trust ARES to be quality tools that make an impact. You are backed by our Performance Assurance Limited Lifetime Warranty. If you have any issues with your ARES Damaged Bolt and Stud Extractor Tool, simply contact customer service for troubleshooting help, parts, replacement, or refund.
  • ASPCA BUSINESS AMBASSADOR: We are proud to be part of the ASPCA Business Ambassador Program. If you have a pet, you realize they are more than a pet, they are part of the family. With your support, we’re proud to help this great organization."

Quality This blind nut riveter features high carbon steel construction with shock-proof handles, so it's tough enough to last a lifetime. This pop rivet gun has a high strength aluminum body with a drop forged carbon steel upper handle, and the square shoulder fulcrum pin is made of cold-formed, heat treated steel. Manufactured with high-grade Heat-Treated Alloy Steel for maximum durability, this tool also features a chrome finish for additional rust protection. Made of high strength Chrome Vanadium steel, the punches and dies are precisely machined and hardened to 52 HRC, so you can count on them to create quick, clean punches through up to 16 gauge sheet metal. This caliper is made of high-quality stainless steel, so it's durable enough to last for years. The oversized LCD screen is easy to read and automatically shuts off after five minutes saving battery power.
Features A tool-less quick change mechanism makes it easy to swap out mandrels and nosepieces by hand, while the ergonomically designed, two-toned hand grips increase comfort and reduce hand fatigue during prolonged use. The thick cushion-molded vinyl grips provide comfort to the user. This compact damaged bolt and stud extractor tool is 3/8-inch drive and can be used with manual or pneumatic impact wrenches and ratchets. The hexagonal flat can also be used with flat wrenches, adjustable wrenches, sockets, and locking pliers. Thanks to the compound high leverage design and comfortable grip, you'll be able to create the punches you need in no time with minimal effort. This caliper measures inside and outside distances, depth, and step with two pairs of jaws and a probe and also easily toggles between inches and millimeters with the push of a button. Its zero function allows for quick differential measurements.

Best $20.00 I EVER spent!

Best $20.00 I EVER spent!
I was changing an exhaust manifold gasket on a 23 year old truck. The prior owner had changed it once before and decided for some unknown reason to install a 3/8” stud in place of the 5/16” bolt. I don’t judge, but this jewel had bent and cut threads into the manifold. The manifold would not slide off the stud. I tried everything I could think of. Welding a nut on the stud didn’t work. Vice grips? No. Working all night (literally)I drilled down the center of the stud as carefully as I could and when I was within 1/2” of the cylinder head the manifold magically popped loose and slid off. Now, I’m looking at a three inch long stud sticking out of the head with half it’s structure gone. Heat, vice grips, nothing worked. So at 9am I went to bed. When I woke up that afternoon I started looking for a way to get this stud out. Enter the Ares 70016. I saw this tool on Amazon, read the reviews, watched a couple of videos, and thought “Why not?” This was Tuesday.Thursday when I got home from work I sprayed the stud at the head with penetrating oil and went to bed. Later that day, the mail female brought a big blue envelope and stuck it in my mailbox. I got it out of the bag, removed the package around it and noticed as many have said, no directions. It’s okay. It’s not rocket science. It works like a drill chuck.I walked out to the truck. Opened the hood, grabbed a 3/8” drive ratchet, a 15/16” socket, a pipe wrench, and a propane torch. So, the tool slides over the stud. About 2 and 1/2” of the stud was swallowed by this monster tool. I set the ratchet to loosen and placed the small pipe wrench on the chrome flats of the tool. I turned the socket (on the black nut on the end of the tool) counterclockwise until it was snug. And to be perfectly honest, I did not use the pipe wrench to hold the chrome. I just held it with my left hand. Once good and snug I started turning the ratchet counterclockwise again. As other reviewers stated, the more you turn the tighter it grips the stud. It started making creaking noises and turning became a chore so I grabbed a 7/8” wrench to slide over the handle of the ratchet. And that was all she wrote. 30 seconds later the stud was in my hand, out of the cylinder head.I kid you not, in the time it takes you to read this review I was done. The stud miraculously did not snap. Tomorrow I’ll install an E-Z Lok threaded insert to get it back down to 5/16” and I already have new Mopar hardware to reinstall the manifold. My options were getting fewer and fewer. I was looking at removing intake manifold, heads, and about $300 out of my wallet. I had nothing to lose, and this tool was the best $20 I ever spent!

5.0 out of 5 stars MUST have tool.
Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2023
This product worked flawlessly at removing studs on a Harley Davidson 2021. It is a great buy and a MUST have for any mechanic who enjoys doing work themselves. Once you grip the tool to the stud, do a slow ratchetting movement to ensure it’s gripping. At first I thought it wouldn’t work but sure enough it began to take out the stud. The key is to be careful with the removal of the stud to ensure it doesn’t snap, that’s just me. I’m not a master mechanic however I enjoy working on cars and motorcycles and this tool is a gem that proved its performance.

I had a stripped water pump stud that would not budge. Tried using a multigrips, heating the stud and welding on a bolt. None of these methods worked. I then purchased the ARES bolt extractor in desperation and it worked as described.
